It can be done for me rare off the kayak at least. This one was July 29 2015. Red boy off the headlands in 150 ft of warm water.

Keeping in mind that 2015 was an el nino year and the conditions were a bit abnormal.
With all this warm water around, you never know though. Could always run into a school passing through.

Thanks for the info I'm also wondering about WSB I've caught some small ones has any one hooked up on bigger ones and if so what depth should i be in?

I don't know what's more disappointing, someone fishing from a keyboard or another guy trolling in the "zone" with out his gear!
