Mission Bay Campland

Heading down to campland for the weekend. Planning to bring my yak, any suggestion on where to fish, what to bring (lures) or bait and what to expect. How far is open water campland?

I heard there's spotted bay bass... never fished for them.. any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

Thx
Mike

Long way to open water from campland. As far as spotties go bring your bass rods. I mostly use 10lb mono and either coolbaits underspins or warbaits for heads.baits range from Zman Paddlerz, grubs, and swimbaits. Baitfish colors tend to work best in MB though conditions can mean lots of other color possibilities.

Check out Sdfish, in the bay forum is an excellent post in the stickies about MB.

What Ed said....plus bring a top water or top of the water column stick or crankbait. There are Orange Mouth Corvina to be had back there. Look for the sandy areas alongside the eel grass beds too, plenty of flatties hanging around. Good luck
