8/23 pm session

Launched with Dennis at about 4pm after spending a grip of time looking for a parking space, didn't even try to make bait just headed on out with what has been working as of late heavy irons and dead squid. Had lots and lots of taps on the dead squid from rockfish and assorted bottom dwellers. Finally at around 6:45pm saw some marks in a little shallower than I expected at around 85', one crank up from the bottom got a big old hit and he stuck, got him to the boat in 65' more due to drift and wind than any big pulls from the fish.

came to gaff fairly quick, all vertical fight with a few runs in between not a huge fish but quite tasty!!

The next drop I got the calico all gill hooked and destined to die, so now I have calico tacos......I would have let him go had he not been gill hooked and almost dead when I got him to the boat.

Water was super warm, measuring close to 72-73, definitely nice to fish in trunks again. Dennis and I seemed to be the only yaks that I saw on the water, sporties were in close too.

Nice Fish Matt! Your yak looks sic too.

I've been bringing my skate on the PM shifts lately. Park the truck as far away as needed, skate to the launch and stuff the skate it in the hatch. Saves a little time I guess.

Summer lovin.....

Good job Matt! I like your Humminbird, but the Yellowtail probably don't feel the same way.

Rusty, I've been doing the skateboard trick all summer, and it makes the difference between being annnoyed with the parking situation or embracing it.

Hey Matt, I launched around 4:30pm with my 12yr old on his Hobie Sport, we made it out about a mile and fished live bait and irons around the bait balls on the surface. Only found a couple baitfish that were hungry enough to take the sabiki. We could hear these strange clicking sounds all around us, may have been shrimp or something underwater. I was going to go early this morning but the wind was up so I went back to sleep. Rode my bike to the launch later and saw one small halibut and heard of another yt caught this morning. Hope to see you out there soon, I'm signed up for the Moyer Memorial Tourney and trying to avoid traveling that weekend. Congrats on the fish! Dave
