Deep hole malibu

So i have been poking around the internet looking for the famous deep hole's location and i cant find a deficient answer. I have seen GPS coordinates from around deer creek all of the way down to leo carrillo. I have gone out before with someone who supposedly knew where deep hole was, but i am very confident that the area was not as it was only 60 feet of water. How can i find deep hole? Not asking for actual numbers if you don't want to share, but i am just trying to get out there without paddling a mile out for nothing at a wrong location. I usually launch out of leo carrillo area if that helps
Thanks,
Johnny

No experience with the deep hole here or even know of it, BUT if I've learned anything from this obsession it's that you gotta put your hours in. Even with coordinates you'll often find yourself drifting over the spot. Searching for spots is a part of the fun.

Narrow it down, collect all your facts and stories, eliminate. How deep is it supposed to be, where in general, get a good chart of the area, follow your clues, if it exists you can find it. Sometimes your chart graph will help, sometimes you need a paper chart, THINK about it and narrow it down. Tight Lines, BTW ask the old commercial fishermen they might help.

Deep hole

Never been there but found this on another site. We were off the Deep Hole a week or so ago, on a mound in 300 ft doing pretty well on rockfish ... when we could keep the sanddabs off the hook. Probably 1.5-2 miles off the beach.

Good luck

Talking

I don't think they were referring to GPS, I think it was a reference to being a Hobie owner and the DEEP HOLE in their wallet! Ha Ha Ha.... I know, I'm one.

Deep Hole residents

That succumbed . Nothing like fresh fish tacos. Yesterday's report. 2-3 'waves, windy in morning and then it laid down well after sunrise. Overall fishing was slow but I managed to scratch out a bunch of large models . Having a rig with 2.5 hooks can increase your odds . . Surf was not too bad , but this one cat next to me rolled going out and rolled going in . . County is not a place for amateurs.

Like Tony said, County aint a joke.. Don't go alone unless you know what you're doing the sets can be just nasty there, I've seen 6 foot shore pounds with no lull when it was supposed to be 4 foot with a 8+second break; know when to turn around and pack up, and be sure to check swell, surf and wind reports! Oh, and it's almost always a garuntee to be ripping more on return than launch so time your re-entry and stow everything you don't want to lose :P

I can second that. We went out on Saturday and it was really calm going out, perfect day with very little current. but there were still the occasional 3 to 4 footers coming back in. Always stow all your gear at county, its way too easy for a yard sale.

Also I would recommend trying to tag along with some people next time you go out, there are several different points of structure out of county from 120 to 200ft of water. It seems like the actual "Deep Hole" has been getting hit really hard by the 3/4 day boats out channel islands, why they cant go to the islands is beyond me but some of the shallower spots have still been producing quality fish.
