Happy New (Persian) Year to my family here!
Thus, the beginning of Persian New Year. With many different spelling, it is called Nowruz. New day. Families dressed in new clothing gather around an especially decorated table referred to as Haftseen. Seven "S". There are at least seven (a lucky number) specific items that their Persian names start with "S" symbolizing certain attributes. More information available on Internet, such as: http://www.iranchamber.com/culture/a...n_new_year.php The main meal of the celebration is Persian rice with smoked fish as well as other Persian dishes. The younger generations receive crisp bills as “aydee” in lieu of presents from the elders. The celebration lasts 13 days during which the younger generations go to the residents of elders to pay respect and perhaps receive “aydee”. On the 13th day, Persians go to a picnic to get rid of bad omens for the year! Of course outside of Iran, dates of picnic and some other traditions have changed. HAPPY NEW YEAR. 1396 Last edited by Mahigeer; 03-20-2017 at 04:22 PM. |
