I noticed that diesel prices were $3.20 a gallon (at current conversion rates) down in San Felipe last weekend. I paid $2.60 a gallon to fill up to head down there - good thing I have a 60 gallon transfer flow installed on my truck, and don't need to fillup for a Gonzaga round trip.
News last night said that a bunch of truckers protested in Ensenada and are blocking the distribution center for days on end - Baja will be running out of fuel by next week... |

some pretty interesting videos on youtube about the riots/looting. The USD now gets 21.4 pesos. So the removal of the Mex. gvt's gas subsidy is gonna be even more painful for the locals now AND probably later.
Higher gas prices = higher prices for many goods This + them having to build and pay for a new wall ... may not make Americans too popular, so be careful down there. |

I never understood violent protests. Looting stores, destroying property.
Its like some one goes "man gas prices are unfair and too high, lets lower gas prices by looting and destroying the community"

I was just there. Lines were long during the day but had no problem in the mornings.
Mulege. Guerro negro. San Ignacio. Gonzaga. San Felipe. All no problem.

Father in law just had to come back to SD. He was on his way to his house in Abre. for a week trip. Not sure of the details yet, if he was turned around or if he was scared of not finding fuel for his return trip. That would be a shitty situation. |

They were worried they would not be able to get fuel for the return trip. El rosario was getting their last shipment when they were on the way down. Abreojos was out of fuel, san ignacio was out of fuel. And they couldnt risk everyone else also being out of fuel. Looks like Dano made it back just in time. They had considered buying like 8 five gallon cans and filling them in ensenada but it wasn't worth it to them. They will have to pay a penalty on their property tax now. Thats why they go every January. Pay taxes. (Or thats the excuse)
