LJ Rock Fishing Tips

Hey all. I have a friend coming in town this week and he wants to catch some rock fish. I haven't done much rock fishing in La Jolla, so I was wondering if anybody has any tips as far as general locations, depth, bait, etc.?

I really appreciate it.

Youre in luck. Very soon every rock in socal will have a buoy on it.

I've only done the rockfish thing a couple times and never in La Jolla, but I found that I always started our with too little weight and had to bump up to at least 8oz. The other thing I like to do is use a double dropper loop with a grub up top and bait on the bottom so it's unlikely that I'll ever be fishing bare hooks.
