San Vicente Fresh Water Fishing...

Hello all,

Now that San Vicente is re opened. I was wondering if I could get a little advise on gear to use for Bass or otherwise in this lake. Has anyone been there yet since the reopening? Any and all info welcome!

Thanks,

Joe

Should be lots of shad, match the hatch. crank baits, jerk shad, the blade. I never fished San V in the yak, but it was one of my favorite SD lakes to fish.

I'm gonna be there on opener with fresh line and all my big baits. Fish have not seen a lure in 8 yrs.

Guy at the counter at Anglers Arsenal said there was 100 bass floating on top of the water due to barotrauma. He said the dying fish were netted up and given away. Have not heard of this before for bass. He was saying great fishing, but not for long with that happening.

WON

Excellent write up in this week's WON.

Pulled this off their Facebook page:

A few 30lb limits in the first 2 hrs! Couldn't be more impressed with the turn out of this lake! #sanV — at San Vicente Resorvoir.

IF YOUR BRINGING UP FISH FROM THE DEEP YOULL HAVE TO FIZZLE THEM,( BLEED OUT THE AIR IN THEIR AIR SACK). THE NEEDLES COST ANYWHERE FROM $10-$20. YOUTUBE OR GOOGLE SEARCH ON HOW TO DO IT. YOU CAN DO IT THRU THE MOUTH OR THRU THE SIDE, 3 SCALES BACK OF THE GILL PLATE. ITS SAFER FOR THE FISH USING THE SIDE TECHNIQUE. ALOT OF GOOD ARTICLES ON THIS ARE FOUND ONLINE.
