It's not too big. Easy to get a bait net in, holds big Macs well. I wouldn't mind if it were even bigger because it's got a smaller opening than the Jackson Kkrate I had on my Kraken which was really nice. The regular Hobie tank seemed like the 8" hatch was just too small, glad I got the XL.

Love my XL tank, you can run it at 6 or 11 gallons. Rod holders are also spaced out a little better on the XL. Holds plenty of bait and the bait lasts all day!

Dont buy one hobie stopped selling them cause a bad design on the switch, i contacted hobie and told me to wait for the new one instead on be stuck with a bad one
