Proper way of storing your Hobie
I was also thinking about buying one of those Hobie stands, but it says "not recommended for long term storage". Some pictures would be helpful. Thanks! |

Not a hobie, but my kayak is stored on a pair of Talic Seahorse racks. I'm just spit-ballin' here, but I wonder if you wouldn't be better off storing it upright on a pair of hull-shaped foam blocks?

Thanks Dave. Just checked out the rack you are using. Looks like a good idea.

2" pvc bunks work for me for my pa. Many people build a 2x4 cart with pvc bunks for storage of all your gear and ease of loading.

Take old mattress and store on top of it on floor or on table.

Check manual
Dealer pointed it out to me when I asked them for proper technique .This is after having collapsed a side from using the wrong technique on my old yak .The kayak should be placed laying flat down . Not standing up , or on its side . In cold weather it may not make much difference ,come summer in a 130 degree garage and you got a problem . Look in your manual if you still have it . Confirm with dealer.

I store mine upside down on home depot DIY saw horses. The gunwale is the strongest part of the hull.

Thanks for the pic.
I think I'm gonna go with a saw horse. A lot cheaper than the talic seahorse rack, although they are very nice. |

Strapped to studs in the garage...leaves room to park a car.
