i have a question. is there any oarking close enough to la jolla to unload kayak and not have to walk alot??? please help me

What's a lot? Anywhere in the neighborhood south of Calle Frescota and west of Paseo Del Ocaso is within a 5 minute walk. I cart it all the time. Parking is tricky on Thursdays, lots of 1st/3rd and 2nd/4th Thurs no parking zones due to street cleaning. The main lot is within 5 minutes as well.

Hey Jimmy, the closest parking spaces to LJ Shores launch is green curb fifteen minute parking. Usually open spots for someone to offload their yak and then go look for a permanent space. Hope this helps. Jim

Most guys drive right down to the water and unload. I have a low rider mazda so I stop where the pavement ends and the sand begins. Depending on tide, it is a short distance to the water. I just got some hobie wheels for my outback and dig not having to drag my yak to the water. Also can rig it before wheeling to water. At 5 a.m parking your car is no problem. Later in the day, it is probably a pain.

i have a 2013 chevy spark and i got stuck on the sand one day when i went to los alamitos bay to fish, ive been to la jolla with my friends but they had trucks 4x4 my car is front wheel drive also, idk if the sand is any different from los alamitos???

I have a truck, but usually fish by myself and never trust leaving my stuff unattended, so I park as close as I can ( side streets or parking lot) and wheel my rig to the sand and throw my cart on the kayak and go. It adds weight and bulkiness, but I don't know any different. If Im fishing with friends I usually still cart it to the sand, but ditch the cart in my truck, while my buddy watches the rigs.

I used to fish some rural areas of Northern Ca and would sometimes have to hike or hoof it through blackberry bushes with a cobra tandem or an old town canoe, so walking 5 mins with a kayak on pavement is a treat

I just park a block over, kitty corner to park, put my PA14 on the wheels and walk it. I load wheels onto my yak and then go out with them so I am not leaving my yak behind when I come back in.

Public Parking in Free

parking in the Tow away zone-Costly!

Parking in the lot is free until the lot closes.
If you wheel your yak to the launch, lock your wheels up on the wood pilings next to the launch. Saves some weight off the yak.

Its just a bunch of streets in a residential area. Just be careful of the tow away zones. There is one street close to the launch right next to the park. I like that area, but you have to move your car by 11 or they will tow it, I'm sure someone here knows the name of the street I'm talking about, close to launch site. But if you drive up the street from there your all good until whenever

10-15 minute paddle at most. White markers are NOT the border. Go passed those a few hundred feet. Here's a good landmark to go by, when the flag pole and palm tree align you are good to go.
