Dumb Ass Kayakers Post on BD
Copied and Pasted from BD Getting killed to go fishing is no good it's not worth it!! To the three kayakers that were out of Oceanside 2 miles off the beach in zero visibility fog you're welcome that I use my radar I am glad the other skiffs who I saw out there without radar didn't run your fucking asses over. It's not very smart to be in the fog without radar especially right now and there are so many boats out and so many Googins. Just wait a few hours when the fog lifts and then go fishing rant over http://www.bdoutdoors.com/forums/thr...yakers.598663/

Hang about 6 twisted pieces of alumunum foil from a rod in upright position. 1"x12" strips. You need about 1/2 square foot of foil flying high. Most radar units will see you at about 1/4 mile. But then most skiffs do not have radar.

He has a point but at the same time the fog last weekend was patchy, it rolled in through carlsbad really fast and left just as fast as it came. So if the kayakers were already out there his point is null, because they didn't paddle out knowing there was dense fog.

The thing is why wasn't he calling the guys in the skiffs that don't have radar, as most PB's don't, dumb asses. Radar or not, in the fog one should slow down to the conditions of visivility. Why would anybody other than a boater post on BD. I know a guy that recommended the site to me a few years back. After going and reading some of the posts, I though shit there's more nuts on this site than I've ever encountered on BWE.

My cousin and I were fishing south west from the launch and just outside the kelp and the fog rolled in pretty thick. Saw a bunch of guys coming in. We kept fishing but had i to use my whistle for the first time in years(since living in humboldt) to get a couple boats attention as they came near, and it worked. The boats I encountered were being cool and going slow.

I fished Sunday there was light fog on the way out which cleared quickly but came back later in the day. We were heading in when the fog was rolling back in but it appeared to be pretty thick. It came on fast and without warning like most weather issues on the ocean. Besides a flag, safety light, and some hi vis clothing us yakers need to try to steer clear of main baoting lanes in low vis conditions. However many Boaters go to fast imo but so do so cal drivers so I wouldn't expect them to change their behavior just because they are on the water. We did the smart thing on sunday and took the inside route in to avoid possible traffic from boaters and jet skis. There was a boat testing his boat at full throttle in the harbor just past the 5mph bouy...we had a few words for him. And really what gives boaters more right to be out in fog than kayakers? We all should be able to enjoy what we do boat or yak...practice responsibility on both ends. Thanks for sharing this it helps remind us yakers of what we face out there on the water...

I go out in the dark when it's foggy with no lights on while wearing black clothing.
It's just how I roll.
