Left em chewing....
Made bait. Tons of Spanish and greenies off the kelp. Filled the tank in two drops. Off we went. First hit was on the greenie in about 120' just outside of making bait. 3/0 live bait hook with 65# braid and a 6' 25# flouro top shot. Trolled approximately 100' off the yak. Handed it off to my buddy Connor (chuckie) and watched him get his ass kicked... Poor guy had no clue wtf he was doing! Anyways he had a quick learning curve and got the fish to color in no time! His first yellowtail and it was the biggest of the day (that we kept). Saw some birds crashing out in the distance and made our way over to them. We both got slammed at the same time and got two more on the boat! Stuck with the birds and continued to catch a total of 12 yellows all between 15-25 pounds. We kept a total of 4 fish. Released 8. Left em biting and boiling! Back before noon with smiles and sunburns! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Wow what a fishing day. I bet your buddy will never forget that fishing day. Unfortunately it's going to be hard to top those results. I hope if there's a let down he still want to keep fishing. Everyday can't be that good. thanks for sharing.

Thanks all for the kind words! My buddy came over for fish tacos and poke last night. He was super impressed that we can go out and catch fish that taste that good off kayaks.
Got out yesterday and the bite had slowed a bit. I still ended up with 5 fish... kept one that swallowed the hook. That makes for 21 trips this summer and 21 days of catching fish! What a dam good year!!! |

What an awesome day you and your buddy had. You an episode of WFO yellowtail bite on a kayak. Should've tried throwing some crazy jigs just to test out how sick was bite.
