Sorry guys cant make it for any fishing, but I will try to stop by to say hello.

A buddy (yakhanded) and I headed out of San o today, so thought you guys might appreciate a quick report.

Launch wasn't to bad, some shore break/surge but it is time-able. If you drag your kayak down south 50-100 yards it should be easier. Once we got past the shore break we had a strait shot out.

We headed to Box canyon, and where the fish are being caught right now was about 5-6 miles from the launch..... long paddle, but we got there and there was at least 30-40 boats, with about 5 cattle boats. Cattle boats were catching on metered schools, but it was picking (one or two stops the cattle boats made did result in 5+ hook-ups almost instantly). Yakhanded hooked up, but sadly it was not ment to be.... A few possible bites, but nothing landed. Some private boats were connecting off the cattle boats, basically if they moved a mass of boats followed.

Conditions were awesome, a bit of wind in the morning, but that died and it was amazing out there.

YT are possible tomorrow if you want to make to voyage!

A friend on FB just posted this San O sunset. She SUPs there often, this is a little north of where we will launch. the key hole should be wide open. I plan on dry in and dry out just follow me!

yellowtail

Went out monday on Sum Fun and we got about 60 yellowtail (I got two on dropper loop in about 200' - all about 20-25 pounds. It would have been a long paddle, about 2-3 miles, but there were lots of fish. Boat moved until fish were metered, then we dropped.

Wish I could go. Should be a great day.

Sounds like it was fun out there! I went somewhere else, and just got a lingcod.

How packed was it on the boat? I'm scheduled to go Saturday with a friend who got a trip from his gf for a Bday present, but I'm worried he might not have a first good experience if the boat is shoulder to shoulder. ESPECIALLY when you got multiple yt hookups. Then again I've seen three tangled before and still landed.

Think I might stick to 6x, it's more fun!

Just a heads up the cattle boats (both dana and Oside) were close to full, if not full loads. It should still be fun, but I did hear the captains yelling at a few people on deck about moving with fish and losing them because they didn't. Seemed like the people who knew to follow the fish were landing them (the cattle boats would come within 20 yards of us, so we could see and hear everything, even the screams of FRESH ONE).

I have a feeling the thing that will piss you off the most if the PB's, because they would get within 20 yards of the cattle boats everytime they stopped. When the fury would move there was a group of at least 10 boats slowly chasing after them.

One a side note, what was the winning fish from Sunday???!!!!!

Surprisingly no body brought in any fish to weigh. Greg released a 28 inch halibut. Andy made the long run for YT with Vince and Andy said he had one bait get crushed and heard a few guys hollering hook ups out there.

I still have the jackpot winnings in my pocket and have decided to raffle off a Fisherman PFD to one of the 14 that attended.
