Santa Monica Bay Surprise

Now this was a pleasant surprise. You gotta love bycatch sometimes. A bit long and no soundtrack on this one but hope you enjoy.

Great job on the C & R Greg. That fish sure put up a fight, thought he was going to be a lot bigger.

When I was decking in Redondo we occasionally caught one trolling the big Rapalas (CD-18's) during the El Niño years of '83-'85 because we constantly saw "breezing fish" throughout the bay!
How warm was the water where you were fishing (if you noticed)?

Now, if you could catch a bluegill at Perris, you would reach legendary status.

only when I am too lazy to retie or allow myself to accept a bad knot. So, of course, the first good bite i had that day popped right at the knot. Maybe 3 weeks is too long for 1 leader?

Pretend your fish is just your favorite super sized meal at your fast food place. Then handle it accordingly ( and no Tony, that doesn't mean inhale your fish).

Gotta keep the genetics of that fish around.
