I had no real plan for the day. Went out deep to try for a ling. About 10 minutes into that the YT pop up in 170 ft of water about 15 feet from me. Toss a mac into the fray and get one on board. Nice head and length, but a little too anorexic for tournament day. Stayed deep for a while and picked up a decent vermillion on the iron, which I forgot about at the weigh in. A little later a hammerhead must have smelled my YT on board and became a bit too curious in my yak for my liking, so i started back toward the crowd. Picked up a nice size bonie on the way. On the way back in I see Adi and Paul on the boat. Paul made the comment that La Jolla seemed a lot smaller in the big boat. Funny, because I was just thinking the exact opposite just a few minutes earlier when I was a mile from anyone else with a curious shark checking out my kayak Paul snapped a pic of my YT (which I stole from the Kayak Fish FB page) and I headed back. Was short on time so headed to the weigh in. 17.2 lbs wasn't enough for any spot, as Eric already had weighed an 18 lber, with the top spot eventually going to Roby. Wish I could have stuck around, but had other obligations. It would have been nice to have a YT to place in the tourney, but its also a good day on the water when you get to bring back a fish for the Hook 'em and Don't Cook 'em. The 3 F's Fishing, Fresh sushi and Football made for a pretty good weekend. Fun day, great organization to support, and good to see some old friends at the launch and on the water. Thanks to al that helped and supported |

Great Event, and awesome experience. I launch and landed the PA without any problems that day. But no luck for me on any game fish besides bait. I finally tested my wheels and those flat free tires are not meant for soft sands. Chris help me push my kayak onto the launch area (Thanks man). I was too tired to stay for the tacos and the ending ceramony, but met some new faces. Here's the picture of the 6AM launch party.

You guys all know how it ended, but here's the story from Kayak Fish anyway. Click it for new photos of Greg's WSB (the man was so low key and matter of fact) and SteveO's YT:

Actually, we just didn't have a macro lens on the camera. But congratulations on "other category".

Congratulations Jorge on that "other fish" win. Your winning catch was really something else.
