RED

Like the title says, it was all reds today for the most part. Today was been in the works for about a yr now. I never fish Pt Loma, so don't know anything about it. I've always done LJ. I jump on google earth and marked out some spots to prospect that I thought looked fishy. So I opened the GPS and set sail to my mystery numbers to see what was there. At first the bottom was bare, nothing around. Then slowly fell on top of my marks and it's was absolutely loaded. We were dropping down on nice reds all day, Uncle Paul and I. He managed two smaller lings as wel. We sent a lot of healthy reds and chuckles back down as well. I had two big big fish come off about 50' or less from the boat. The wind was just pushing us to fast, that it made it hard to really fish the area good. Everything came on Lucanus jigs, 5-7oz models. Green/ Chrt/ pink-WHT seem to be the colors they wanted today. Are plans were to scope the spot out then pound the bay and possibly the kelp, but ends up being all bottom fishing. It was fun. The weather was absolutely perfect, besides the wind. I did have one fish almost rip the rod out of my hand, pulled a little drag the. Came unbuttoned about half way up. Sucked. Well I hope you enjoy.

We had about a 2lb average. The smallest fish was about a 1.25# and the biggest 3.5#

Nice catch. Do you cut the gills/guts out on the water?

Yea I just started gutting and ripping the gills out on the water within the last month. Best thing I've ever started doing, only take a min to do. Absolutely no mess when cleaning, even cleaner than a halibut. Meat comes out top notch after filleted.

Yes, we took the boat out and took a break from the kayak yesterday.
