San diego bay

Dang, well its been almost a year since Ive been out and decided to hit the bay to get back in the groove. I hit the bait barge at 7am, and called Jeff to see where the best place to hit a halibut would be. I floated around the 4 tall pylons and stayed as close to the drop off as possible. I dropped live bait on a carolina rig, pretty much the hole time. Ended up just getting 3 spotties, but it was fun.

here is my crappy ziplock back photo.

That's great that you're getting out again.

Hey bud, I hit the water later this afternoon. Managed about 20 spots and a fat sandbass. I had 10 spot over 16". The four big ones were 2x 17" and 2x 18". Epic bay bass bite. I'm going out Thursday evening and Sunday morning. Let me know what's up.

Not bad for the first day back in a year!
At least you didn't come home with the stripe or stink! :-)

Do you guys launch at shelter island ? I've only been out at tidelands. Where are the "four pylons"?Obviously I don't know my way around the bay(I've only done tidelands three times).Never been out at shelter Is.

On the NI side of the bay across from SI.

Launched at SI Saturday morning. The place was slammed with skiff fishermen. Had to park by the Bali Hai and hike in.

Love that high tide for launching!

BTW, the barge had both dinis and chovies.
