Welcome, You will find all of your target species in La Jolla.
Look for a low swell day 1 -2 foot or less for your first launch. All of the Kayak fisherman will answer your questions on the water in La Jolla, they are extremely helpful. |

calico I can catch !
I like the skirted war baits w/ big a hammer and some scent... pro-cure or uni-butter. drop on the edge of the kelp canopy to the bottom let it swim down and that calico should be off your list in no time. |

Or if you have a bait tank flyline a chovie with a 1/8oz weight on the edge of the kelp and bam calicos all day. For plastics I really like the Zman Paddlerz, those things are calico killers.
