Bad, bad ass goat Mike! F'n A!!!!

We did some work on the boat (boat boat) yesterday - replaced the bait tank pump, water impeller, fixed the steering...

Jasmin couldn't go, so my friend Pedja and I went out to do some rock fish fishing today... We loaded up on starries, had a bunch of lingcod (one keeper), boccacio, some reds...

I had one accidental catch...

What kind of fish is it and is it good to eat?

Since moving here to SoCal I have really wanted to catch myself one of those. How big is that exactly? Once in a lifetime?? How large is the world record?

Congrats on one wicked fish!!!! What tackle/set-up were you using if I may ask?

According to the 2007 IGFA Record Book:

California Sheephead All Tackle Record = 28lb 6oz on Nov 4, 1999 by Marshall Madruga.
