Spinnerbait favs?

I do like the bolt thrower, although I am waiting for that 1/2 oz. I want to throw these more in the bays for bass, and maybe the kelp for Calico? Any suggestions or war stories?

I've caught a lot of spotties on warblades. More effective with trailer hook. Not sure they make heavy enough spinner baits for me to try with calicos. I'd rather throw plastics in the kelp. Less hang ups.

You can take the rubber out of a rubber core sinker and clamp the lead down on the hook shank to increase the weight of the spinnerbaits.
I've fished them this way for bass in the bay at 45'+ depths.

In a related note I've caught Calicos on buzz baits at La Jolla. You have to watch for birds diving at you buzz bait though. Took off the skirt an slid on a paddle tail swim bait.

Don't be afraid to throw those 1 oz Bolt Throwers in 6 feet of water over a grass bed. Love the extra distance you get throwing those and the faster retrieve. If I throw 1/2 oz I use the Strikeking or Booya Blades in white or chartreuse.

1 ounce bolt throwers and 1 ounce terminator. The titanium terminators are indestructible! Take the blade arm and twist it around the body twice, let it go and it springs back straight. The Trix spinbombs work great also.
Spinnerbaits are unbelievably weedless in the kelp.
