We mainly fish San Quentin

So, what is the BEST time to kayak fish San Quentin? Let's get in on the calender for 2014. Families could make this trip.

Late May / Early June is the best time to take advantage of the killer halibut fishing in San Q. I think it'd be awesome to get a group together and hit it up - either camping out on the point or staying at the Old Mill. Camping puts you closer to the fishing grounds though..

I'm in for some trips (depending on work requirements) - Gonzaga is high on my list because I haven't been there yet (October is the best month i understand). Springtime in San Quintin and Asuncion Bay would be cool.

Sentri passes - it costs $150 to get a Sentri pass, and it's good for 5 years. If you cross more than a couple times a year it's totally worth it at $30/year.
To apply, go to the following link and create a login, then fill out the application. There is a $25 application fee, then when the application is approved you have to go down and do a face-to-face interview. The office is just this side of the Otay border crossing. Then they fingerprint you, tell you the rules and ins & outs of being a pass holder and collect $125. The card arrives in the mail a few weeks later.

November or December would be the best months for another trip to Bahia Asuncion. We might have to make earlier reservations as this is their busiest time.

Hey Bob,

Very good for you to do this. I would love to jump in on a trip or two if time allows. I've gotta say it's just a bit too far off to fully commit though. Gonzaga and San Quintin have been on my list for years so tentatively, yes to both. I've got a truck or would love to jump in and share costs if anyone has extra space.

With the weather updates being pretty accurate these days...if there's a poor weather week looming on your trip date, are you guys ALL IN? This raton would rather jump ship than hunker down in a wet or windy tent. Let me know your thoughts about bailers and/or reschedules. Thank you sir.

Jim

Svandawg, Gonzaga will be 14-20 April. Deamon, I do not charge for these trips, unless lodging costs are involved. If you want to bail because of weather so be it. The long lead times are so people who work can plan time off for the trip. I've had to hunker down for weather before, but can usually find some how or where to fish.

Jim

If there is a house to be rented there will be a date where no refunds should be allowed maybe a week or two before arrival date.

People camping in tents it would not be an issue.

The owner could tell us the cutoff date when a cancellation would be allowed.

I think that if that happens and no else fills in then everyone would have to make up the difference in money because of someone canceling.

Hopefully there would be another person that is going on the trip that would want to go in on the rental house so that wouldn't happen.

Honestly depending on the time of year weather may not be an issue.

Our December trip we could run into weather though but all of us are committed to going.

You can always rent a panga or go surf fishing in the rain.
