My waders stink...
What does everyone use to deodorize?

I've used an enzymatic cleaner meant to eliminate pet stains from a pet store. You can also put them out in the sum and let them bake.

Have u cleaned them
After I use mine, I rinse them in my igloo cooler filled with water , maybe a little soap. Granted I am not going out the next day. Then turn them inside out and repeat. Hang dry and ur good to go. Of course I remove Hali, bass, tail , and Ice out of cooler before washing.

Very simple solution...STOP fishing so much. You are a fishing fool who also freaking chases surf? Life is good...

I wear my socks with my waders so when your feet sweat your socks absorb the moisture. After I started doing this they don't stink anymore, except for fish on the outside which is ok with me!

Put them in the freezer.
The smell is made by something organic like a fungus that likes warm wet conditions. Freezing will kill it. It might come back do to spores but periodic freezing should keep it in check and kill the smell. Do you have athletes foot or any kind of skin fungal infections? Drysuit divers have these problems all the time some of them put foot powder with tolnaftate in their suits and socks to keep fungas in check. |

mildew smell?
Learned a trick about smelly mildew infested items. It works with clothes and especially towels that don't dry completely from showers or gym bags, etc.
Go to Costco and buy the huge white Vinegar jugs. Pour half the jug in your washer, let it fill up and then let everything soak for 2-3 hours. Just run another load with regular detergent after. Natural solution...no chemicals and inexpensive. |
