Lowrance M68C/similar AA battery holder

Does anyone use the eight AA battery holder for their smaller style Lowrance depth finder? Going on a 7 day river trip next week and carrying two ten amp batteries is a little much in terms of weight. Was wondering if the battery holder plus three or four cycles of lithium AA's would get me through the week and save me on the weight a bit.

Any notes or discussion you have about this unit appreciated.

That unit was my first fish finder. I ran it exclusively on AA. I would get about 16 hours out of dura cells.

That is pretty impressive.

Does anyone know where I can still get that battery pack for the unit. I have had trouble finding it.

Don't know where you are located but I would bet that JK Electronics in Westminster would have whatever you need. Really knowledgable guys that won't try to sell you something you don't need

Ahh okay I am over thinking this...

I can just buy the holder at Radio Shack and put the regular male or female connectors on the end and it will plug right in!

Has anyone tried energizer lithium or are Duracell's more than enough?
