Excellent point! I would never kayak fish without the compass,even on clear,bright sunny days. A pfd and compass will save you,the rest of the list is just an added luxury..........

Just bought a hand pump at harbor freight for $5 with a three ft hose duct taped a weight to hold the hose in the water fills a gallon jug in a min

Based on last trips experience (smooth hound shark involved), more than one pair of pliers. I prefer the disposable Home Cheapo bulk pack, since they inevitably go over the edge.
Naturally, if I followed the "tie everything down you want to keep" rule, this wouldn't be an issue.

Isn't it amazing how easy fish kick things our of the kayaks?
