A different perspective
http://www.10news.com/news/foul-smel...fe-in-la-jolla I smiled when I read it because it tells me the ecosystem there must be doing ok. All that Guano means that there is allot of food/ bait in the water for the birds to eat.. We all know that the Big Fish like to eat the little ones. There might even be some potential for some job creation in it too. Bird Guano makes great fertilizer and the nitrates can be extracted for allot of uses. I can't help but find the irony in it. Complaints about the smell and how it will hurt buisness; From the same kind of people who continue to exploit the Ocean for use as both a Fridge and a Toilet. |

Thousands of pounds of bird, seal, and sealion shit lying around in the sun starts to stink? Who knew? Thats one thing all the pretty ature documentaries can't capture. Beig down wind from a seal rookery is like being in a dog pound that hasn't ever been cleaned. Watt till they close the cove permanently to water contact. The screams should be deafening. Mike

We need to start a coalition to save the birds. They should have the same rights as the seals. If the seals get to stay, the birds stay. After all, I love birds. They show me where the fish are. Just because they poop on the rocks instead of in the water and on the sand, no reason why they should have to go. Now, if they got rid of the seals, then I guess the birds would have to go to also.
