One of those days...

When my few shots on the water have come up lately, shit has happened...inability to make a bait...crashing fish that seemingly laugh at my offerings...big bite whiffs...a heartwrenching breakoff...seemed like every worse case scenario.

So with the vigor of a new day...I meet a good dude (Brian) on the way out...who happened to fish it the day before and he freely gives me the dope(YES!). He also said "if we can make bait, we'll get our shots today"...The confidence grows.

Since my break off the week prior, I switched to 40# flouro...soon, my tank gets more bait in it than it's seen in quite a while...I am locked and loaded. Brian and I are on the outside edge from everyone else, waiting. Luck of the draw, my rod goes off and I'm towed out towards Catalina. Yes! A 29# fish tied up early. But i'm still wanting. I begin to paddle back to the area and I've noticed quite a few peeps have moved in around Brian. I didn't want to get caught up in the numbers game so I reset inside of most. Soon enough, the rod goes off again. It was one of those days. Headed in at 8:30am.

So how many hours on the water? 3-4?

Off by 8:30 am with two good fish, that's crazy.

Did you run home to put your fish on ice and show up at the office to save a sick/vacation day?

Congrats on an excellent bounty! Good job doing something just a little different from the rest of the fleet.

congrats on the double! I'm thinking 40 # is not a bad idea after recently losing one on 25# flouro (using 30 # now)

40# fluoro is not a problem at all. Was out my buddies skiff last week and we got 3 (2 on 40# fluoro and one on the iron on 40# izor). Lost a few, too.

Haven't spoken recently to any of my buds, are the squid still in town or is it back on with the greenies?
