6/13/12 LJ Thresher

I went out to La Jolla Kelp with a buddy. We couldn't make any greenies, but freelined the bait we did catch on 65lb specta and 20lb fluro, just north of LJ I got some little tugs and then wham! My reel was lit up. What ever it was it was really pissed off, and fortunately it headed everywhere except for the kelp, and I got pulled around for about 25 min, with my line right at the breaking point, and the fish kept stripping line like it was possessed. I thought it was yellow on 'roids, but turned out to be a Thresher. BIG thanks to Jerry for sticking around to help and take pics. I've been fishing a lot this year, but aside from a 6 foot mako about a month ago (which I didn't bring into my yak) this is my first catch of the year. I just gave a bunch of steaks to the neighbors they are almost as stoked as me. Sully

That thing hung around all morning... There was probably lots in the area but had one almost jump out of the water at a bait i was reeling in today.

Been working at the hotel right off LJ overlooking everyone, everyday fishing. Great catch. Wish I could bring my yak, but the garage I park in is too low for my rack and yak. Gonna fish it sometime in the next couple weeks and figure out how I can bring it. Where there's a will, there's a way!

Nice! I hooked one a few weeks ago out off of the Point Loma kelp. I thought it was something else until I got color. I cut the line but kinda wish I had not after only bagging two Calicos on a long day of fishing.

Happy Flag day guys

Dude if you work Overlooking Lj you need to figure it out!! I used to work at a hotel in Laguna and I'd just bring my yak and lock it to my rack. I'd DEFINATLY lock it in Lj after all the horror stories of theft I've heard. Park I. The street man! A lot of men would kill to work in the cove.

Nice catch by the way dude! Great pic.
