The Big Gaff, I Mean Goof

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of fishing next to two fine young lads that were fishing from a little skiff. After hooking a nice 13lb Hali my compadres get hooked on a hali just a few yards away and......I'll let the video tell you the rest, the theme music should explain it all

That was fricken' hilarious. Love the music to go with the sped up video. And what tops it all is successfully landing it, a nice hali'. Congrats to the lucky guy who was fortunate for your loan of a gaff and patience. Kudos to you and a great post.

So I'm not the only one who gets 'wrapped' up in their fishing eh? Good job.

Fishing close to Jorge is a good thing, that hookup was a straight up poach job Now....Leaving the gaff on my Outback was not good...wont happen again.

Either was leaving the trolling motor on during the handoff to borrow his gaff That's where shit went South in a hurry as the fish went hard right and down

His patience during the whole fiasco was Zen like...I was apologizing left and right and he was just making it work. I take no credit on landing that fish.

Thanks to all for getting a laugh with me on this one. I know of another site that would hang a guy by his short hairs for a blunder like that.

Good eye Jim! hahaha but that's a whole 'nother story involving a certain rare species for the area of the near legal variety and a botched net job by my first mate not less than 20 minutes before this one across the channel. To save face we agreed the net was cursed and benched it for the day. Now if I'd only known what borrowing that gaff would entail....

The Benny Hill is spot on tho! I agree. Awesome vid credit to the CEO...it was worth the wait.

'The Net'

I didn't see the other 'Big Goof' happen with the net but I did hear about it. I do recall that when the incident was explained to me most of the words used were not in the English Dictionary. Regardless, I'm sure that the entire fiasco made for some fun dinner stories with the family.
