Abu Garcia Rods? Recommendation?

Looking to get a nice light set up for bottom fishing. I generally like fishing with lighter tackle anyway. I was looking at the Veritas and the Verdict rods, and held them over at west marine and they feel really nice. I'm partial to Trevalas, just because I've experienced these wanna be small bass rods landing a Mahi.

I get a pro deal through Abu, and the pricing is pretty fair.
Has anyone used these before? I was thinking of sticking an Abu Garcia Alphamar 16 on it.

I was looking at the
VCC66-6 (120583 6' 6" Line 12 to 20 MH XF Lure 1/4 to 1

My only concern is that even with a 34ton rating, the line weight and lure weight are kind of low, and I worry about pulling a fat goat out of the kelp.

Opinions?

Try GLomis rods...they will pull that little critter out of the kelp.
