9/20 LJ AM Viva La Spectra!

Launched with Matt, hit the pier for a great mix of jumbo sardines and greenbacks not much bigger. Headed to the grounds and Matt got picked up around the half, after a short ride spit the hook, where he then experienced the morph as he reeled in his bare hook a spanish ate it. Looked very fishy from there to the NW corner. Lots of birds, chovies and greenbacks. Current running down and out and persistent 7-8 kts of wind out of the NW made it really hard to keep out of the kelp. I was pulling my greenback as there were stringers below me, when I got picked up and buried in the kelp. After numerous runs down and lots of popping kelp I pulled the long fellow up. Funnest fight that I have had over the kelp monster and the most surprizing victory as I have never been taken that deep into the forest. Thanks for the pic Matt, sucky conditions, but great company.

VIVA LA SPECTRA!

Don't you just love that feeling as the stringer pops, momentary slack, then reel down and feel the fish still on? Makes my heart beat harder every time. Congrats on the salad slaying!

Oh yeah... There's no other line than spectra... At least for me, at least for LJ.

Nice one Andy. 8)

What did you say Matt got, a spanish? I'm just checking if I have to go fish this week or what.

Andy, nice solid YT (looks like a home guard humpback)!

And, nice consistency!!

I caught one of my yellows last weekend on the Spectra.

I love the feel of the mono, however the braided lines definitely have their advantages.

You sure are keeping the heat on Iceman.

Whoa! What's with all the trash talking?

Ken I love the feel of fishing with mono. I love the feel of catching with spectra. I switched the Accurate from 50 yard topshot of mono to 3 feet after too many lost fish to the kelp in the last few weeks. Hope we see these YT through Christmas, then the real homeguards.

Viva la spectra

Congrats, that is a sweet fish, how much did it weigh in at?

what is it about spectra that allows it to cut through the kelp but mono doesn't? Is it the high strength with thin diameter?

The braided line is like a serrated knive as it rubs it saws and is none the worse for wear.
