Have you ever heard newells? Mine sound like heck but still cast a mile. As far as the grinding sound try greesing the gears I did this to a couple of my reels and it helped with the grinding. Try it out hope it helps

If you're capable take it apart and clean it with a clean paint brush. You'd be surprised what a small grain of sand can do to a reel.

Most obvious is the clicker off? Number two did u buy it brand new? If u didn't it might have a dc paw upgrade very popular and it will make a click sound when u turn the handle

Is the roller bearing greased not oiled? In may be worn out and loud? Does it get louder when theres pressure on the reel? May be another indication of a dry or bad bearing somewhere. Go through it again or send it in?
