new X-13 reviews anyone?

new X-13 reviews anyone

Well to be fair that "blue one" was the original design with the fish hold and I cut out an access hatch that may have dipped below the water line with a full load

I am a big fan of my newest model X-13, no rivets to seep water, better bow seal, hinged center hatch, great paddling kayak and handles very well in the surf.

Check out around the 100 mark, that is me in the center in my X 13. Dry hull all that wild weekend.

thanks iceman, im new to kayak fishing really like fishing the bays in sd but want to try n venture out in la jolla. im going to try it at oex along with some others but just wanted to know how it handled in la jolla and thru the surf in case i wanted to go out there.

Great kayak... I have an original with the fish hold still in the front. I love the thing, it's by far my favorite fishing yak...

How about for a guy around 250 lb?

I have the new X-13, and as Andy mentioned it paddles well and is great in the surf Takes on zero water. I only weigh 157 lbs and so can't say how it works for a bigger guy....going to give it a paddle manana

I'd say it's too small for you. There is a large center hatch that is fairly low right in front of the seat. Though supposedly sealed they tend to leak. With someone of your size the seats going to sag lowering the hatch even lower. Add a large baittank and you can end up taking water in through the hatch. There some modifications you can do to the hatch and the kayak, to keep it from happening but personally I would not recommend a X-13 for anyone over 200 225 pounds if they want to carry a bait tank.

I agree with the weight recommendation, although the newest hinged center hatch has a backing plate making a seal that holds even with the flex. The hatch cover has a gasket on the rim that mates with an o ring as well.
