Just in from today..ohhhh,what a nice day!
i didnt see any whales though..
got on some rockies, mega spaniards & then I proceeded to get my ass kicked by one angry black school bus. He must have spooled me over twenty times!?.. He ultimately went to the bottom happy & my Hds concurs..
(Although he was Extremely tuff, this Bsb was 1/4 of the size of the one that broke me off awhile back with Kev on my bow!)

Heres a little backround on the vocalists behind these 2 tunes..

Linval Thompson
From the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, the name Linval Thompson and the Thompson Sounds moniker had serious currency in the world of Jamaican reggae. In addition to his reputation as a vocalist on over a dozen albums, Thompson was the producer of over 40 albums and hundreds of singles by artists including Dennis Brown, Freddie McGregor, Barrington Levy, Eek-A-Mouse, Gregory Isaacs, The Wailing Souls, Triston Palma, Cornell Campbell, Johnny Osbourne, The Viceroys, and Sugar Minott. An examination of his work makes the case that Thompson's contribution to reggae was essential during the music's golden era. Linval Thompson and Sugar Minott can be credited as the first reggae singers to exercise significant control as producers of their own work. Previously, the perilous route to becoming a reggae producer in Jamaica was only traversed by shrewd businessmen, soundsystem operators, and a handful of soundsystem deejays. As a singer [Thompson] is not as well known as some of the artists who attained worldwide success with his help, like Freddie McGregor, Eek-A-Mouse, and [the engineer] Scientist." Thompson began writing original songs from an early age, and his first opportunity to record came when he was a teenager in Queens, New York, living with his mother. He recorded"No Other Woman ." Thompson also recorded a few tracks in the US for producer E.W. Martin before returning to live in Kingston. In Jamaica, Thompson voiced tunes at the newly established Black Ark studio for producer Phil Pratt, in addition to his martialartsploitation masterpiece, "Kung Fu Man," recorded for the Black Ark's eccentric mastermind, Lee "Scratch" Perry. Thompson also recorded briefly for the legendary Augustus Pablo and his Rockers label and for Stamma Hobson. A prolific producer whose credits include Dennis Brown, the Wailing Souls, Eek-A-Mouse, Freddie McGregor, and the Viceroys, among others, Thompson has also released a number of his own vocal (and dub) albums through independent labels and his own imprints. Linval Thompson's musical gifts were recognized early in his life when he began writing songs as a teenager. He made his first recording while living with his mother in New York. The composition "There Is No Other Woman" was a collaboration with future Third World guitarist Bunny Ruggs. Returning to Kingston, Thompson began working at Lee "Scratch" Perry's legendary Black Ark studios under producer Phil Pratt: subsequently contributing to the Upsetter classic "Kung Fu Man." Recording at the famous Channel 1 studio, Thompson was backed by a rhythm section of Rockers' drummer Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace and the Wailers' bassist Aston "Family Man" Barrett. Thompson (along with former employee Lawes) was at the forefront, tracking Roots Radics' rhythms at Channel 1 and sending the results to Scientist for mixing. The collaborations with the former King Tubby producer resulted in dub titles like Scientist Meets the Space Invaders (1981) and Scientist Encounters Pac Man (1982). Thompson constructed his own dub-scapes as well, on Negrea Dub, Green Bay Dub, and Outlaw Dub. In 1982, Freddie McGregor scored a hit with the Thompson-engineered "Big Ship (Sailing on the Ocean)" (after which the singer christened his own label).

Earl Zero / Earl Anthony Johnson

Earl Anthony Johnson (born 1953), better known as Earl Zero is a Jamaican reggae singer whose career began in the 1970s.
Earls Dad used to dock his boat at a wharf called Fisherman's Wharf; spot # 0/Zero. They used to call him Fisherman Zero and Earl was then named, Earl Zero. Born 1953 in the Greenwich Town area of Kingston, Johnson was the eldest of ten children, his father a fisherman and his mother a fishmonger.Zero began his career in the 1970s, first as a member of the group Rush-It with his childhood friend Earl "Chinna" Smith, who recorded for producer Bunny Lee, who gave him the name 'Earl Zero' to distinguish him from Smith.His recording of his song "None Shall Escape the Judgement" went unreleased but it was a hit for Johnny Clarke when recorded by the singer in 1974, and Zero first had success as a singer himself with the Al Campbell-produced "Righteous Works" in 1975. He recorded for Don Mais' Roots Tradition label (recording "Home Sweet Home" and "I No Lie"),and joined Tommy Cowan's Talent Corporation roster, and had further success with "Please Officer" and "City of the Weak Heart", released on Cowan's Arab label, the latter also recorded by Jacob Miller on his Killer Miller album.In 1976 he moved on to work with Bertram Brown, recording "Get Happy", and again recorded with Campbell on "Heart Desire". He continued recording through the late 1970s, recording with Soul Syndicate. His first two albums, Visions of Love and In the Right Way, were released in 1979. Earl Zero is also credited as being Bob Marleys personal herbman. In 1979 he relocated to northern California, and continued to record since, with several albums released.His latest album is And God Said to Man, released in 2009.
