Rudder or not to Rudder

What's your opinion? I know what rudders do and really have not seen the need to get one or to really even worry about one. However a buddy of mine says he wants to get one.

Anyway thanks for the replies.

I own two TANK Kayaks one is the Cobra Tandem w/o Rudder and a x-factor Malibu with Rudder.

I have to say that i love my kayak with rudder because i don't have to paddle two or more times in one direction especially when the wind is blowing me of course.

My buddy also has the X-factor and that's what he was wanting it for. I have a OK Prwler 15 and did not mind it so much. I had a long paddle yesterday and honestly I was more worried about the time than the paddle.
