Short Bay Report for 11/13
Took the new to me Kayak out on the big bay this morning to get a feel for it before next weeks tourney. Let me say I loved it. Very stable, fast, and tracked very well. For those who missed it I bought a Cobra Navigator, still need to get the thing rigged up.
Now for the fishing. Started at about 6:30 paddled out about 100 yards from the Shelter Island launch and let the thing drift. I drifted all the way to the end of Shelter Island and a little beyond that. Through that I was getting tons of bites. I farmed 3 fish, landed 1 Sandy, 1 Mac., and 1 Lizard fish on that drift. I then paddled back beyond the launch to the green channel marker and the tide stopped moving, no movement at all. It was a lizard kind of day, those things are nasty to catch and they were all over the place. Ended the day at about 10:30 and went home to figure out my Kayak setup for the future. I'm still working on that. Have fun out there everyone. |

I was catching some MONSTER lizards from the bay. Bump up the size of your plastics, like 5" and above, keeps most of hte lizards away and gets u the larger sandbass and halibut(which btw are plentiful inthe bay right now) tide sucks right now..but thanksgiving week should be good. Ive been using Chartreuse and Clear Hollogram with orange
