Sunday morning- so nice to be on the water
Was in the water at 10am today. First I want to says thanks to all those who have responded to my sometimes trivial questions which helped me get out there. It is really a great experience paddling out, floating around the kelp seeing schools of bait fish, sometimes seeing fish jump out of the water or seeing sunfish cruise by as it followed the lure in. No playstation games come close. And then when a fish is on the line it gets better.
I only came home with a small rockfish and a few macks for lobster bait. Had a hard time getting bait at first. I could see a lot them going after the sabicki and getting into almost a frenzy but no takers. Was using shrimp at first and got a lot of bites but lost the bait. Squid was working very well. I did come across a area about 200-300 feet with bait fish breaking the surface. Got a few macks with the sabicki. Came across a lot of lobster bouys. So many that I had to repeatedly move out their way to avoid snagging them. So one bout submerged about 5feet. I doubt the boater will be able to find the one. While I was soaking squid I was throwing a Kroc and saw a sunfish follow it in. Are there any size limit on them? I read someplace there us a bag limit of 25!! |

Thx for the report, try using Smelly Jelly or Pro-Cure on Sabiki size 14 or 10, works for me.
