Try it again.
The rookie is going to make a play for some fishies Friday morning. Been working eight days straight and going out Friday has kept my sanity just above the surface.
If you see a green extreme with a red milk crate and me in my camo rainsuit, try not to laugh at my deer in the headlight look. |

We have all been there. The only thing that separates you from the guys who seem to catch fish on autopilot is lots of time on the water. Well, maybe some of these guys are really talented as well.
Anyway, don't give up. One of these days you will catch your first YT. It will be a trophy regardless of what size it is, (mine was a dink weighing about nine pounds). Next you will catch a bigger one and soon you will hook a WSB or halibut. I have been yakfishing for a couple years and am still waiting for my first legal halibut along with a ling, thresher and many of the other tasty things that live in La Jolla. One thing you will probably find out quickly is that nearly everyone you meet on the water in a kayak will be more than happy to help you in any way they can. It is kind of an unwritten code because, as I said in the first paragraph... we have all been there. Bob |

I still haven't caught anything worth noting from a kayak either... but I love to be out there. I put in 17 hours on the water last weekend. You're gonna love it! |

Thanks guys. Yeah, last time (first) I was out, the few guys I chatted with were stellar. I'm willing to put in the time and take my lumps, it's all part of the experience. That's why it called fishin', not gettin'--love that quote
