Anyone got a camera repair shop recommendation?

My Cannon Elph was banged around a little, and now the view screen is not showing a picture, and is a white screen. It still takes pics, as I have tested it, but you dont know if it is in focus, and have to use the "old school view finder," with your eyeball. Cannon wants $140 to fix, they say soldering, and more if parts are needed. Basically, that always means parts are needed. Just curious, a great camera, but might as well just buy another for the same price, if the repair goes up to $200 +

Thanks,

Chris

Don't pay until you know the cost upfront.

Your right, once it goes over 200, toss it and get a new one.

Might want to invest in the waterproof housing once you get it fixed. Not only keeps it dry but protects against drops. Kinda pricey though.

You are lucky it is a Canon, they have a great replacement policy. Canon will replace your non-working camera with a "new" refurbished model of the same style for 50% of a new camera's cost, and THAT camera will have a 6 month warranty. I've done this a few times.

It's a great deal, you basically get a new camera for a 50% discount, but you must remember to return the broken one or they will charge the remaining 50% cost to your credit card.

Call 1-800-OK-Canon, tell them your problem, and if its out of warranty, want to exchange your camera in the "Upgrade Program".
