Out Of Town Report
Hello everyone-For many years I kayak fished at La Jolla and in North County. I miss fishing in the ocean and keep checking back in here at Big Water's Edge to see what's happening.
For the past couple years I've been living in the Columbia Gorge and there is a lot of untapped kayak fishing potential here. Even though there is a great deal of white water kayaking on the local world class rivers; there are not many kayak fishermen. There are plenty of fish. The big trophies are salmon and steelhead, as well as sturgeon, walleye, smallmouth bass and every species of trout. The salmon can get over 30 lbs. and the sturgeon can go way over 100 lbs., so there are some big fish here. Being alone on a backcountry lake with the trout biting can be a great experience as well. Hopefully, I can get back to San Diego here in the next month or two and get back out to the corner. Good luck and safe travels.
