Jan 12, my tribute to the late Marty Salas.

it's been a long 5 weeks since i've seen NW corner and after Mr. Iceman's killer report i wanted to get some!

my tribute to the late Marty Salas..... a 30.4# model on my favorite Salas 7X. many yellowtail on the West Coast have died thanks to the great Salas jigs and nothing beats a jig getting inhaled by the beast!!

got a late start and got up to Arne, Pat and Moyer doing their thing.. sat there for 5 mins trying to remember how to tie a damn knot!!! it's been a while and i was getting the double uni and double sandiego knots mixed up.. ahhhh, what a kook...
F'nArne proceeds to talk me into a blind strike on the 7X no more than 10 mins into arriving at the spot..
wanna catch fish?
just talk to F'nArne!

pretty dead out there..
dog sh*t luck, but i'll take it..

Glad you got a quick refresher course there Nelz. Sorry I didn't get back to ya yesterday, too busy prepping for Baja. See you next week, hopefully.

I thought you were hung the bottom when I pulled up, then I saw the gaff come out. Nice fish Nelz. At least the whale watching was good today. Went inside and scratched a few Calicos for the clients but that was it.

It's been a while since I saw a yellowtail that wasn't in a picture on Iceman's kayak.

But I was happy to see one today, even if it wasn't mine.

Nelz, PM me your email for the originals.

Good fishing with you again Nelz. Luck? Naaah - you just got a sixth sense for where the fish are.

Nicely done.

WTG!

Nice job, Nelz, on a quality fish. We pulled up just as you were stowing the gaff and washing off the blood. We thought you must have had a fish, but didn't get a chance to see it. Blind is good.
It definitely wasn't like the day before when we rolled up on Iceman as the fish were boiling everywhere.
We had no takers today, and no boils seen. Aaron nailed 2 sculpin on the plastic on the way in. Whoopeee!

Hey Nelz,

Does your Yammi mechanic ever take a step back, look at you funny and ask where does all the blood come from?

Nice Fish!
