Shimano Tekota Brand New
$140 reel is brand new replacement, no scratches, line on it, hasn't even seen the light of day yet...gots to go.
In Encinitas area...

FWIW, I have the Tekota 500 and it is my "go to" reel for trolling or bottom fishing for medium sized critters (Lings, cabezon, etc.). The drag performs really well, and the action is... well - its Shimano smooth! (I don't recommend it as a casting reel, though).

Ah. I lubed mine thinking the same thing and when I pulled it apart, BOING! that damned little BB on the end of that spring came flying out and I lost it.
Been meaning to send it back to Shimano for an annual service one of these years... It still works fine - the drag wheel is just a bit wobbly. As for casting, I guess I'm just prejuidiced against level-wind reels for casting, but that's probably because I pretty much suck at casting conventional reels to begin with.... |

You encountered the "Trinidad Surprise" on the Tekota....there are a number of write-ups to counter that. I think shimano's site has a trini breakdown and how to use a toothpick to prevent that popping out to never never land.
