Clean machine T160
I got my Tarpon 160 demo kayak today and quickly made it ready to fish without drilling any holes in the kayak. Track system up front and rear is great thinking. Look for more ideas to come from OEX, WS and elsewhere for the Tarpon line. I have a 140 and 160 for rent, or demo purposes. Manana it goes spottie huntin' before work
Hopin' to get an extra 10 minutes wettin a line, then chargin in.

I'm impressed with that rail mount design. You could change it easily for fishing or hooping or different users. Very nice feature.

MSRP on the 160 is $1050, I am quickly becoming a HUGE fan of the new seat design as well. VERY COMFORTABLE! and included in the price. Very DRY ride as well, check out the footwells and the seat sits up even higher above the water line. Found a quick bite on the spotties before the tide slacked this morning. Steve in the 140 and me in the 160.
WCB submit.......after dumping it's big sister, lifting it out of the water.

Can you fit a plano box under the front of the seat? It looked like one probably would fit when I checked it out at Pt Loma.

I have paddled both and would say that they are both great boats, each one with its own unique features. But being a WS guy for over 10yrs, I lean towards the Tarpons. The Tarpons have the Slide Track system, AWESOME adjustable dry seat, great new hard hatches, huge tankwell, more volume in the bow which makes it dryer and better for launching in the surf, and storage on the sides of cockpit. The Tarpons also have a mulit-chined hull, which gives it a bomber secondary stability. The weight capacity on the new 160 is now 400lb. The T15 has the Rod Pod, Sonar Shield, and Scupper Transducer. Weight capacity is 500lb. You'll just have to paddle both to see for yourself.

i saw them in oceanside with my own eyes (as well as some hookers--WTF?).
These boats are sick. The latching hatches are awesome...center one can be kayaktanked. And the whole seat design is very innovative. |
