Cash for Calicos 2
Amish Ed picked me up at 5:30 and we headed over to Cabrillo arriving at 6ish. Met up with Brian and Scott, little chilly we talked and rigged our kayaks till sunup. The surf wasn't big though it was breaking hard on the higher tide. Brian headed out first got caught in the wash of a small wave that drug him backwards and the rear of the kayak beached itself before he got it going made it out over the incoming waves. Ed Scott and myself headed out together Ed made it out with no problem though Scott and I were caught in the wave and sucked back to the beach, I paddeld hard and made it out only having to go through one breaking wave. When I got outside looked arouind to find Scott standing on the beach holding a one blade paddle, he later joined us after taking all the electronics off his kayak and made it out. The first cast into the kelp with a Uni Buttered Zoom Fluke was picked up this stipless calico bass
18". The day brought us early offshore winds that carried us out to the point before stopping. Fishing was slow for all of us my day brought 4 calicos. The wind really picked up at 11 and blew us back south. Headed in at 12:00 to a not so gracefull landing but keep the good ol Caper upright. Great day with good friends. Thanks for coming Scott, Brain and Ed................................................ ..
