Quick report
Saw two yellows taken by a guy and his kids on an aluminium boat. They were stoked. Only saw Bonito after that and not a lot of action

Longer Report

Launched at 0600 to ankle slappers, no wind and temp in the 70's. Got out to the kelp and bait was extremly tough to come by. Saw it looking but couldn't get it to go.

Had three by 0800 and was a good mile off of the condo so I put one deep and one shallow and started to paddle. 10 minutes goes by and the top one goes off. It put up a great fight and I let it take a lot of line and that was my mistake. Big knothead starts running in and then it was a battle of who would get there first. As I yanked it out of the water he got it in his mouth. It was a Bonito so I wouldn't have kept in anyway and this was an up close National Geographic moment.

Ran out of bait by 0930 and drug a Rapala into the bouy. Something took a run on that also but didn't stick. Back on the beach by 1000 to the crowds. No where to park and the sand on the exit was deep, saw two trucks get stuck. Eventually got loaded up and headed home. Another great day on the water.

Jim

Agree, just no ice on the yak this morning. Seems the dogs think it is pretty good raw also.

I was about 100 ft away from you when that happened, and all I could think was someone should frame that dog. Also heard those jackasses in that boat laughing at you and saying something smart. Thats ok though cause the guys on the Dolphin head boat that was there reported a dog rippen off about 8 yellows. At least it was a bonito. better luck next time. BTW the report was on bloody decks on that same day, sorry I don't remember the title.

Thanks for the copmments. The ribbing from those guys who weren't catching fish doesn't bother me. I fought the fish and was on the water having a good time. If it was about eating fish I would save a lot of time and energy and go to Pt Loma Seafood.

Thanks,
Jim
