SD Bay Big Tidal Flow
Evening Fishing Family. Was able to get out for a few hours this morning. As usual launched from Shelter Island. Was about 0645 when I launched. Fog was lifting and the water was warm Soon as I got out I felt the tide coming in. Trolled on the way out with out any bites. Lots of bait fish hoping around but cold not see any big fish chasing. Hard to stay on a spot to fish with the current alone. Caught 5 Sandies and 1 Spottie off of the Shelter Island area. Got snagged a lot today and it was difficult to unsnag. Tried along North Island from the Ammo Pier down with no luck. Wind picked up early around 0900. Was even more difficult to work spots with the current taking my line parallel to SI and the wind pushing me out toward the channel.
Over all not a bad day when one of the Sandies was 18 inches and the Spottie was a fat 12. The small sandies put on an entertaining fights. Good luck if you go out over the next few day as you need to take into consideration the water movement. |

San Diego Bay is one of my favorite areas. Looks like you had a good trip.
