8/3 NPH 5-8pm Session
New to the board and kayak fishing... Got inspired to do an after work session in Newport. Launched out of Lower Castaway on the bottom end of the afternoon tide around 5pm. Fished the local area and PCH bridge for lots of bites but no connections. Made a move over to Balboa Island and managed my 1st fish on my Hobie. It was the 3rd time I have taken her out and I was still learning and getting comfortable fishing from her. Saw lots of jumping smelt all over the place. Only a couple other people were fishing from a kayak. Got the Spottie on a drop-shot 4" Fluke in a green & silver color on 10#FC.

Congrats. NH is a fun place to fish. Can be slow at times but those feisty Spots are fun. The occasional Halibut is also nice.
