La Jolla 5-26-2022 on the Solo Skiff
Went out to La Jolla for the second time this week, Monday was the first and Thursday, before the Holiday weekend. Made bait and searched different areas looking for good FF marks and keeping an eye on water surface and bird action. There were hardly any bird and found plenty off bait balls. Some were huge and found some that had the bait crashing the surface being chased. Saw a bunch of Flying Fish, but no bird action. Then some boils on smaller bait balls. I was able to cast several jigs on the boils and around the bait balls, but did not get any hits. The whole time I also had a Large Spanish Mac on the troll or while drifting. Switch out several baits, but none got hit. Met a couple guys at the LJ Landing and one had caught a nice Yellowtail. It was his first Kayak Yellowtail. So I congratulated him and told him that it would be the best tasting Yellowtail he ever had, because of the work he had put in to get his first Kayak Yellowtail. Just got to keep looking for the weather windows and keep chasing the LJ Yellowtail.
