La Jolla 1/21/2022 on the Solo Skiff (no fish porn, sorry!)
Between bad storms, high winds or surf, and sometimes, all the above. I had talked myself out of getting out on the water, to me that usually, always means La Jolla. I somehow had managed to do it for over 7 weeks, that's crazy. I finally found a small weather window and off course it didn't turn out as nice as forecast, but it was still a great weather day. Just as on the last few trips out to La Jolla it was spent searching for where bait might be, looking for signs of bird activity and sometimes covering further waters at a higher speed to check out other areas. That's an advantage I never had, in all those years on the Kayaks. Now I can say that, "No there weren't any better signs 5-10 miles away, than right off the point". It sucks, but at least I know instead of wondering. Ha, ha, ha, just kidding , It's called fishing , not catching. The point is that getting time on the water gives you a chance to de-stress, unwind, chill out. That, is even more important, than catching a Personal Best. Tight Lines!

It was hard to hear what you were saying over the noise of the engine, but the scenery was great. Glad you were able to make it out for the de-stress, unwind and reset.

The Go Pro9 has a built in microphone that picks up the frequency of the motor noise and makes seem much louder than it really is. It is most noticeable when it's on the mount and positioned above and closer to the engine. If I swing it more in front of me, the engine is hardly heard. I have a MOD microphone attachment that is supposed to be better for sound reproduction, but it says it is not waterproof. That make me not want to use it in that environment. Thanks John.

Was the round cover left off the front on purpose, or you just forgot to put it on?

I usually have the bait tank screw lid off, because it's easy enough to put bait caught on the Sabiki in and take some out when I need it. Without having to remove the lid or hatch. The screw on clear lid has a thin bungee so I don't loose it. That annoying noise is actually the exhaust noise from a few small holes on the lower unit that have these little ports. Don't know why they are there, it's not for excess pressure release. I wonder if the engine would be other wise super quiet. It just happens to be a frequency that the GoPro accentuates, the camera makes it sound mechanical and it isn't.
