Tandem kayak for single person
I want thinking of getting a tandem kayak for my son and I, but there are times I will go out by myself. Does it make sense to get a tandem if half the time I am going solo? Or is it better to get 2 kayaks?

Get the tandem. I have the outback but should have gotten the oasis.

Tandem, but that would depend on the age of your son and his capabilities. Colby Blackwell started out on a tandem with his dad and has now moved on to take many landmark species off a solo kayak.

There are some tandems that have center seating. For instance a PA17 has a third center mirage drive well and center seating in the event someone wants to go solo.
